Anyone know where I can find glass-bottled milk and refill services?
Hi all!
I'm moving to the Bay Area (specifically Alamo Square) in July and I want to get a head start on locating some glass-bottled milk. Anyone know of any farmer's markets in the area or other places I can find it?
Thanks!
There's a few local stores that carry Strauss Family milk in bottles. There's also a few places that deliver Strauss Family dairy products in SF and the Bay Area. Do a search on Mr. Moo.

Lots of places carry Strauss - you buy the milk and pay a deposit on the bottles. When you return the bottle (for refill by the company, not onsite) you get your deposit back. Not so far from Alamo square the food store across from Safeway near Church & Duboce carries it (can't remember the name).
Not sure if that's what you mean by "refill services"

I'll bet that there's a grocery within a short walk of Alamo Square that carries Straus.

That place would be Golden Natural Foods (but not at Golden Produce).

Rainbow used to carry raw milk/goat milk. I haven't checked recently if it's still there (they also had raw colostrum in various forms including fresh and kefir).

They can't offer goat milk raw - it is illegal - the only way to get it - is to sign for a goat share direct from the farm in CA and than you can use the products as part of owning a goat :)
Silly laws to get the real deal but that's how it is here
They may have Claravale or Organic Pastures raw cow milk - but they prices are hard to beat from real food bay area - I have no affiliation other than as a happy customer...
