Looking for a Homemade Ice Cream Sandwich

I had a Blue Bunny at the zoo for the first time in ages, and remember reading about a few spots that were making their own. Any opinions or direction?

    1. Ronnybrook Dairy uses their own ice creams in sandwiches. But I have no idea if they make the cookie part themselves or if they are someone else's. Adore Ronnybrook.

      1. Perhaps you might want to pick up a couple cookies from Levain Bakery and pop down the street to Grom for gelato to make your own.

Now that's an awesome idea. I will have to try that out myself. Thanks! :)

The idea is very tempting but wouldn't Levain's cookies be too thick to make a proper sandwich?

I haven't been but the Meatball Shop in LES is supposed to have excellent ice cream sandwiches. I had a great one at Saltie in Brooklyn (I know it belongs on the Outer Boroughs, but in case the OP is willing to travel to B-Burg) with their homemade salted caramel ice cream not too long ago. I also heartily second Ronnybrook's ice cream sandwiches!

              Perhaps Jacques Torres then?

          3. NYC's Top 10 Ice Cream Sandwiches:

Apparently Peter Pan, Xie Xie, and Meatball Shop also do them.
