Favorite CH user names
I know there's a long thread on how hounds picked their "e-lias", but if there is a comprehensive list of user names, I haven't been able to find it through searching the site.
Skimming an old thread today, I noticed a great handle: "Alimentary My Dear Watson".
What are your favorite CH names?

I've long been fascinated with the handle choice of "coneywitheverything," thinking, "Wow, that person really likes rabbit!"
Yep, it only recently hit me. Duh. But I still think of rabbit when I see it.

re: Servorg
'It's derived from 3 years of being employed and (instead of "Sleepless in Seattle") "Single in Saudi Arabia"'
I finally have the explanation, and I *still* don't get your handle, Servorg (yes, I've wondered if perhaps you belonged to some type of service organization)....but that's ok, because I LOVE your avatar, not to mention your always reliable posts when I make it down to LA...
however, at least your handle isn't sort of ordinary like mine (not to mention geographically inaccurate now that I live in the Central Valley)...

Spotted on the boards yesterday: pinetime.
Then there's Ed Dibble...And, isn't there a Sal Vanilla?

I love Greyelf. That's what we call one of our cats. Sometimes when we feel especially hokey, we call him Grelf. ;)

I've always loved Tatamagouche and Sal Monella.
But, if I was clever when I first logged on many years ago, it would have been Junior Childs.
When my youngest son was 3 yrs old, he used to watch This Old House every afternoon and call out to me when it was over, "Mom, Junior Childs is on". ;)

re: alkapal
Awww... thanks, guys. You're too kind. I was just being silly. And my chowhound history isn't all that storied that I couldn't afford to lose it, but I'm saturngrrl in other places and I would probably just confuse myself (or forget I had a different user name and not be able to log in at all! LOL!).
You should see some of the screennames I'd come up with for a gardening board... luckily, I don't garden... or I'd go by Rhoda Dendron. ;-)

The second part of this reply will get you started http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/558290 since it sounds like you are just now inquiring.

I like the pun ones, and recently noticed What the Pho (you have to know the correct pronunciation in order to get the joke).
I use a wafflemaker, but if there isn't already an Eggomaniac, there should be!

Just came across "flourgirl"
Wish I had selected something more original for my name. If I had to start all over again, it would be "Pudding Face", as that was what a little girl I met many years who took to me instantly called me. Hindsight.....

re: souschef
I too wish I'd given a bit more thought to my choice of username - but how was I to know, back when I started posting, that seven years later this site would be sucking up so much of my spare time? ;-)
Ironically, on several non-food-related sites (including the dating site on which I met my wife back in the previous century) I've used the name saltimbocca. I have no idea why I didn't use it when I started on Chowhound. I guess I assumed it would be pretentious to name myself after actual chow.
As for names I like - Perilagu Khan is my current favorite, along with good old BarmyFotheringayPhipps. As an old P.G. Woodhouse fan I know the derivation (and pronunciation!) of the latter, but would love to hear from Perilagu how he came up with his.

I like our goddesses, bermudagourmet and purple
and Passadumkeg and his maple syrple.
Susanna The Conqueress can kick some butt
and jfood is an avuncular mutt.
Kattyeyes must be a svelte looking feline
and when tatamagouche blogs, I make a bee-line.
Crank it up with a boom shaka laka
and a slam-dunk for our Sam Fujisaka.›14 Replies-
re: Veggo
<<kattyeyes holds up a lighter>> Nicely done, V!
It's so strange. I was thinking of this very topic the other day. Some of my favorite names are the especially clever ones:
al b. darned
Ima Wurdibitsch
Paulustrious
ChefBoyAreMeThere are so many more that I can't recall. I hope others will add to the list.
And because I think it takes guts to post under your given name, a shout out to the many Chowhounds who keep it real:
Andria
alanbarnes
Caitlin McGrath
cayjohan
ChristinaMason
danieljdwyer
Gio
Veggo
Will OwenRock on, both the clever and the brave! :)

re: kattyeyes
Thumbs up to your favorites, katty! Although most likely the second group of names on your list are real, we can't be sure that, for example, Alan is really Mr. Barnes. I knew an Alana Lipschitz who legally changed her name as soon as she turned 18. And yes, I meant LAST name. Can't really blame her, although by 18 the worst of the peer group mockery was probably behind her. I wonder how many Liptons were born Liptons?
