I hope you know what I mean - the assortment of cookies that includes rainbow cookies, leaf- and pretzel-shaped cookies, things with cherries, things with sprinkles and jam, etc., etc. What's your favorite place for this sort of thing, ideally downtown? Thanks very much!

Yes, and how about the two flat lacy wafers stuck together with chocolate? I'm so glad you asked this question! I've got Veniero's, DiRoberti's and Rocco's on my list, but am eagerly awaiting responses to your question in case I've missed someplace important!

I love Veniero's too! All time greatest Italian cookies I've had have been at Egidio Pastry in the Arthur Ave neighborhood in the Bronx.

I tried a Rocco's assortment today and it was fine but nothing to write home about. The rainbow cookies were the highlight but the others were on the dry side and no leaf, pretzel, or even lace cookies. The search continues. Up next... Veniero's.
