Anniversary Dinner - Foodie who loves a non Foodie

petuniafromhell May 17, 2010 02:05 PM

Hi, it's our 5 year anniversary this Saturday and I need a place for dinner. I like to eat everything and try anything but my boyfriend is not a foodie. He likes Italian, steak, Spanish and Latino food....trying to keep the price range at no more than $75 per person (but can be flexible)...hoping for a romantic place but nothing too trendy were the bf won't feel comfortable...i think Perilla would be similar to what we are looking for but since i've already been there i would like to try something new.

Kathryn's given great recommendations- the only hesitancy I would have would be Txikito, since you probably should reserve such an important occasion. At that price point I would also add Chef Michael White's Convivio in Tudor City.

      Some ideas:
      Craft (if your budget allows)
Txikito (no reservations however, and it is a bit cramped)
Aldea (Portuguese, a bit more upscale, the menu reads a bit expensive, but I find the portion sizes MUCH larger than other places, but I'd reserve ASAP)
Scarpetta (excellent Italian and right in your price range but reserve ASAP)

      These topics also seem relevant:

Good luck! Since you're trying to get something Saturday night for THIS weekend, you may find a lot of places are fully committed or have only very early/very late times left.
