Rum-Balls With Leftover Cake [moved from Kosher]
back in 1976-78 worked in a koshger bakery. We used to hand smush the leftover cake and soak in a solution of water and imitaion rum flavor until the consistency of a chewy fudge brownie, then roll into one inch balls, then oll through a tray of colored sprinkle and serve.
We also spread the mixture in sheet pans and baked for 25 minutes at 325 F and cut into rum squares
I know this is a old post but, I happen to have and use a recipe, from my father who is a master baker for rum balls using left over chocolate cake
rum extract or 1/3 cup of rum
cut cake into chunks and put in a bowl add extract or rum and enough jam to make it all sticky let rest for 30 min roll into balls and then roll into more jam and then into sprinkles
