Rum-Balls With Leftover Cake [moved from Kosher]

I'm looking for a recipe for rum balls using leftover chocolate cake. I searched online but didn't find anything useful. Any suggestions?

  1. I googled the search term "rum balls from cake crumbs" and found dozens and dozens of hits. Did you not find any or did you just not like what you found?

I didn't like what I found because I'm looking for a simple recipe like melting chocolate in a double boiler with butter/marg. I'm just not sure about quantities.

    2. back in 1976-78 worked in a koshger bakery. We used to hand smush the leftover cake and soak in a solution of water and imitaion rum flavor until the consistency of a chewy fudge brownie, then roll into one inch balls, then oll through a tray of colored sprinkle and serve.

We also spread the mixture in sheet pans and baked for 25 minutes at 325 F and cut into rum squares

Thank you. Sounds good, but not exactly what I had in mind.

      2. I know this is a old post but, I happen to have and use a recipe, from my father who is a master baker for rum balls using left over chocolate cake

        chocolate cake
        raspberry jam
rum extract or 1/3 cup of rum
        chocolate sprinkles

cut cake into chunks and put in a bowl add extract or rum and enough jam to make it all sticky let rest for 30 min roll into balls and then roll into more jam and then into sprinkles

I probably used 1/3 cup of jam too in the cake and you need more for rolling balls in before you sprinkle
