GRACE restaurant closing June 19th
I just got an email notifying me that the owners of Grace restaurant (Neal & Amy Fraser, Richard Drapkin) are closing their restaurant as of June 19th, their last dinner service.
Apparently John Sedlar and his partners at Rivera have purchased the lease and will be putting in a second Rivera there. No word on when that will open.
And Grace Restaurant will be reopening in the rectory building of the Vibiana Cathedral event space on the corner of Second and Main Downtown. But not until 2011, according to the press release.
Meanwhile, they intend to continue catering events in your home or other private venues. Until then, they intend to .." celebrate with us in our final weeks as we push the culinary limits and go out with a bang. "
Sorry to see them go, had a few nice meals there. But will enjoy having Rivera a bit closer to the westside, rather than have to go downtown and brave the crowds at the Staples Center.

Oh, that makes me sad - I love Grace! Although if their reopening goes through as planned, I will be better off for it, since I live Downtown. It's kind of funny that they're moving Downtown and being replaced by a restaurant that's already Downtown. Rivera's very good, but not as good as Grace in my opinion.

re: aching
It helps if you like Mexican food.
If not, then nothing will compare with Grace.
If you do, then Rivera is better than anything Grace ever did.
I personally think the Rivera move is sensational, and that Grace will ultimately benefit as well.
but I will be at Rivera more than I will be at Grace!
