Hilton Inn at Penn

Will be staying there this weekend (36th and Sansom) -- don't know the area at all. Any place good to eat in walking distance? I'm open to all cuisines and price ranges. Just interested in knowing what's good around there for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner. Thanks.

  1. Just go next door to POD. Go at an "off" time because it gets packed. Great bites and drinks by Stephen Starr!

    1. Distrito (Mexican) and Nan (French-Thai fusion) are both in walking distance.

Thanks to both of you -- sounds like I'll have some choices.

I second Distrito and Nan, I believe Nan is BYO

      2. The mentioned places are good, especially Distrito.

Also try Kabobeesh for excellent and cheap Pakistani and Abyssinia for Ethiopian. There are a lot of good food trucks/carts for lunch. For a simple breakfast, Metropolitan Bakery is nice. Marathon Grill is ok for breakfast, too.

        1. Marigold Kitchen isn't far if you want to indulge in some molec gastro.

If you like beer, we have two establishments with large beer lists: City Tap Room has 60 taps and a fairly solid menu while Local 44 has 20 taps and pub grub. I prefer Local 44.

Desi Chaat House is good for yummy...chaat. I need to get back there soon. Not really a meal, but a great snack.

In addition to Kabobeesh there's Saad's for shwarma and shish tawook.

Finally there's Rx for modern American. I haven't been in years, but it should be pretty solid.

Oh yea, Rx. I had brunch there recently and it was fantastic.

Thanks again -- these are all really helpful suggestions.
