Rumson-Area Graduation Dinner Ideas?

shoregirl2010 May 16, 2010 02:13 PM

My family is looking to celebrate my high school graduation with a nice dinner with my best friend and her family. While she and I love the idea of eating at a Pier Village resteraunt because of the stunning views, the food at those places (Avenue, McLoones, etc) is awful. Nothing too ethnic, because it is a large party and we're looking to please everyone. The graduation is being held in the Red Bank / Rumson area, and we're looking for suggestions of upscale places in a 20 minute radius. Thanks!

Think maybe Ama in Atlantic Hightlands- Authentic Italian food, and they can hold your family and friends. If you haven't been here...try it.

This is probably on the outskirts of your 20 min radius from Rumson, but for Italian, I've had celebration dinners at Piccola Italia in Ocean. Has mixed reviews on the board, but I've always thought their food is really tasty and inventive compared to the other red sauce joints in the area.

Another good option may be Belford Bistro which is definitely within your mileage requirement. The space is somewhat small but with reservations, I've done upwards of ten people there. Food is usually pretty similar as I haven't found the menu to change much but its always extremely good.

And like Mr. Bingley says, you can't go wrong with Nicholas. Just be prepared for a food cost between $60-80 a person. That being said, at that price level, go to Nicholas over Fromagerie

      Piccola Italia

      Fromagerie Restaurant
26 Ridge Rd, Rumson, NJ 07760

Sorry Sockster. No disrespect intended as I've never tried Ama. I can say however that it is on my short "try list".

If and when you go....ask them to make you the tasters menu (when you make your reservation). Also, unhappily for us, they switched to cash only in April...so beware...but it's still wonderful!!

Yep, a special night with 6 or 8 people...splurge for Nicholas.

Wow...a high school girl who already knows good food!! I love it! Congratulations on your greaduation!

Do you like D'Jeet in Shrewsbury? I happen to be a huge fan of the place. It is BYOB, so I don't know what your parents want. I did go to a dinner party there of 14 people, and I thought they did a great job.

Other place that comes to mind is Fromogerie in Runson. I know the place is hit or miss, but just a suggestion.

You can also do Le Fandy in Fair Haven. Some people don;t like the place here, but I really do. I have never had a bad meal here and think the place is quite lovely! Also, BYOB.

Congratulations again, and keep up your food knowledge!

If you are looking for a private room and your party is 12 or less and you want a killer view try The Beacon Hill Country Club, they have a great room on the third floor with views of Manhattan, Sandy Hook and The Verazano Bridge; the food is good and the prices reasonable

Or My Kitchen Witch in Monmouth Beach, Karen will do a great private dinner for you there for up to 30

But if you want a scene and a full bar beside the good choices Angelina maybe the Wine Loft in Pier Village or Mr. C's in Allenhurst, they both have music and Mr. C's view is even better than the Pier Village spots for the view but alas the food is just as average
