ANYplace open for breakfast/lunch in Des Moines on Memorial Day?

I wrote earlier about a good place to take my nephew for lunch for his graduation on Memorial Day. Someplace on the "special" side. Well, all of your wonderful recommendations -- Centro, Django, Alba, Dos Rios -- are all CLOSED on Memorial day. Does anyone know anyplace that is a step (or two) above Denny's that is open for brunch/lunch on Memorial Day???

two places you should check: Waveland Cafe and Chef's Kitchen

Both are good, but Chef's isn't open for breakfast or lunch on weekdays.

Not sure Waveland is anymore, either, but Sam was looking for a more upscale sort of place, originally. And downtown.

Just called Court Ave Brewing Co and they said they are open at 11am on Memorial Day. You may want to call yourself and confirm, but I believe I talked to one of the managers / owners, Scott Carlson.

Great, solid place for some grub. Locally owned. Reasonably priced. 99% of dishes cooked from scratch.

Sounds "chowhoundish" to me. :)

Could also call and check Tumea & Sons Italian Restaurant [phone], to see if they are open on Memorial Day. I know they usually do a lunch during the week, but hard to say on a holiday. Small, family run place. Great food. Not fancy, but that's not what I look for usually.
