Can I buy rhubarb?

Does anyone know where I can find rhubarb in this city? I've been waiting for months to make some recipes using it, and I feel like it is rhubarb season now -- but last week I looked at the Union Square farmer's market, another farmer's market (can't remember the name right now), Whole Foods, my local grocery store.. and found nothing.

Am I too late, or am I just looking in all the wrong places? Thanks!

I saw some at the green grocer in Chelsea Market a couple of weeks ago.

Ok thanks -- I was at Union Square on Wednesday, but it was pretty cold and rainy so it's possible some of the vendors had left by the time I got there... I'll try again! Jon, how much did you pay for it today?

Earlier is always better for items that are just back in season and/or of limited quantities.

According to the Union Square Greenmarket Twitter account, Hoeffner Farm had some today.

i believe it was $4/lb. we bought about 2 lbs and it made an excellent rhubarb coffee cake. it was the stand on the west side of the park a little south of the subway entrance.

Definitely not too late. I live near Boston so I can't help, but it is appearing in stores and gardens now, and I buy it well into summer.

I was at Union Square this past Monday around noon and saw rhubarb at several vendors, but not a huge amount. Maybe it was sold out by the time you arrived?
