My parents are going to be in town for a few days next weekend, and, among other things, my mom wants to see Rodeo Drive. Can anyone recommend a place for lunch on Sunday in Beverly Hills, close to Rodeo Drive? Preferably unique, but not sushi. Indian, someplace with good mole, or some other ethnic cuisine would be good.

Then on Monday we'll be up in Pacific Palisades. Any recommendations for lunch there?

In case you're interested, here are other places we'll likely hit:
In n Out - coming in from LAX
Banyan Indonesian - Manhattan Beach
Roscoe's - on Pico
Mashti Maloe's - Hollywood
Ethiopian (probably on Fairfax)
JiRaffe - Santa Monica

Thanks!

the only ethnic around rodeo i can think of that's decent is barney greengrass, but if you are going to pacific palisades, drive to the pch and go to bruce marder's new place, brass cap. french bistro across from the beach.

Awesome list! Here's some thoughts...

The Farmers Market is not at all far from Rodeo and is another L.A. Landmark your parents could have fun at. When I do my BH shopping, if I'm starving, I head to Barney's Greengrass (Great view!), if I'm hungry, then over to Al Gelato on Robertson for take out and a cup of Gelato. If I'm not feeling too hungry, then head over the Beverly Hills Cheese Shop (Because going in there with an empty tunny is a BAD idea! :)

JiRaffe has a three course bistro dinner every monday night that is an absolute steal! They also have wine specials!

Finally, be sure to kinda mix it up at Banyan. Almost everything I've had there has been absolutely COATED with peanut sauce, so the flavors meld together after a while..

Have a wonderful time! :)

Il Pastaio on Canon in Beverly Hills at the corner of Brighton. Would call 310.205.5444 to confirm their being open, as it is a 3-day weekend, but the food is good, ambience very pleasant, yet not rape and pillage on the wallet.
Get out of the Palisades for any meal and the number of options increases exponentially, meaning into Santa Monica.

the farm is on beverly drive (the same one that's in the grove), and everytime i've gone there, it's been good. it's cute inside, good food for brunch/lunch, and right there around all the shopping. but it's not uh, very ethnic. just very california.

since you're going to be in bev hills on a sunday, you could also stroll over to the beverly hills farmers' market - lots of produce stands, and some food places toward the one end where the musicians are. very relaxing.

for monday, if you're in the palisades, you could just go right to the beach and try any of the restaurants that over look the water...

AH! Sunday... I forgot that is the date the poster mentioned... Sadly, Bevery Hills Cheese Shop is closed on Sundays! :( The Farmers market is a nice consolation prize, although it's an EARLY morning market.

Bombay on Wilshire, just East of Rodeo, is said to be fantastic, but I have yet to experience it. I like Enoteca Drago for authentic Sicilian cuisine (and tapas too, which is really fun) on Canon - great wine list with lots of tasting flights to choose from as well. :)
