CupKates truck

myst May 14, 2010 10:23 AM

I was finally able to sync up and find the CupKates truck in Berkeley. I tried S'mores, Twinkie, and Salted Caramel flavors (sharing with others). Purchased the Strawberry Swirl, Double Chocolate and Red Velvet too but did not get a taste of those.

The cupcakes are on the small size but very light and moist. The S'mores flavor was particularly fun with graham crackers on the bottom and a tasty marshmellow frosting. My favorite taste was the salted caramel. The frosting is a heavily whipped almost pudding-like buttercream without any grainy texture at all.

I'm looking forward to trying a few more flavors (especially the Guiness). The Twinkie flavor for me was not too exciting.

Their cupcakes are the best that I've had in the East Bay. Here's their website, where they always post where they'll be that day and if they've sold out yet: http://cupkatesbakery.com/ (also on their Twitter and Facebook feeds). The S'more and Salted Caramel cupcakes are both great, moist, tasty, not too sweet.

Another fan of CupKates. Love that frosting...not sugary tasting. She is usually on Fourth St. on Sundays and Elmwood on Saturday. She is doing a pub crawl tonight. If you work in the eastbay email her and she might put your place of business on her route. We lost her visits at work due to a parking situation.
