Recommends for inexpensive prewedding family dinner Downtown

I'm in charge of picking a restaurant for the family dinner for 15 somewhere close to Downtown. Here are the requirements. We don't have a lot of money so inexpensive but still nice. Can be any ethnic but groom side is literally flying from Italy so if Italian, has to be good. Fun atmosphere, good food, and maybe something that says San Diego. Thanks

  1. Downtown isn't long on inexpensive spots. Can you clarify what you mean by inexpensive? How much do you want to spend per person? Are you wanting drinks, too?

I am probably looking at around $20-25 per person, drinks excluded. I know thats not alot and really limits the options but we just want to keep the costs down. Thanks!

Beach Chick-I do hear Bali Hai's mai tai's are good but what about the food? I havent been there in years and seems more about the mai tai and view and less about food. I hope I'm wrong about that.

I think the food is pretty good and fits into your price point.
You couldn't do any better with the view, fun atmosphere for out of town guests.
Happy hour at the Brigantine in Shelter Island..can't beat the fish tacos and the atmosphere is fun.
Guadalajara Grill in Old Town is another thought.

Good idea BC, I'd 2nd the idea of the Brig during Happy Hour, max you value and still have fun on your budget.

    2. Bali Hai in Shelter Island..just renovated, minutes from downtown, fab mai tai's and killer views of downtown SD bayfront.
