HI Everyone,
I have dinner plans tommorow night with a good friend. She's a bit of a foodie, but we are looking for a casual type place to eat tommorow. Anywhere in/near Providence would be great!

Thanks!
Leslie

I really like Red Stripe, in Wayland Square. It's casual (though it can be loud), food is very good, prices are very fair.

Broadway Bistro - love the food and the somewhat funky but low key atmosphere. Red Stripe is solid but I just think the food at BB is a notch better.

Broadway Bistro is fine, Red Stripe is literally "hit or miss" - you never know what you're experience is going to be like until you get seated. It could go very well or very wrong (I've had both).

Thanks for the suggestions. Does Broadway Bistro have full enough tables that it feels like a night out? Or--should I make reservations?

I'm not sure I understand the question. I think calling and asking never hurts. I've eaten there and enjoyed it a number of times, but never on a Friday night, so I don't know how crowded it gets. It's pretty casual, but not overly so, with thoughtful food, and you can have a conversation (which isn't always possible at Red Stripe.)
