This is currently me & my wife's favourite Nonya restaurant, very nice ambience and the food's not too bad: PERUT RUMAH at No. 17, Jalan Kelawei, 10250, Penang.Tel : 04-2279917.

The appetiser platter which consist of choon piah, lor-bak, kerabu and roti babi is nice.

Heard it's quite expensive by Penang standards, no? And the food's hit-and-miss. Still, will check that out on my next trip up north :-)

Is there anywhere in Penang where I can find kerabu using poached pig's skin? I distinctly remember having that in Penang several times, but the last time was back in the 1980s(?). The gelatinous pig's skin (the tough hide was removed & discarded) was poached, cut into strips, then tossed with a divine mix of sambal belachan, coconut milk dressing, onions, fresh coriander leaves, perhaps some minced dried shrimp, and lime juice. Absolutely delicious!!
