creative 40th birthday celebration
I am brainstorming ideas of a creative, fun way to celebrate my fiance's 40th birthday without breaking the bank. I am open to anything. Thought of private rooms at restaurants, cool places in Koreatown, somewhere where we could spend the evening eating/drinking that is unique and really fun for around 30 people. any ideas or experiences?

Fogo de Chow in Beverly Hills has a great private room and is very unique. It's an all you can eat meat lovers dream. Really good food in a very nice setting. I am getting hungry right now.

This is probably far for you, but wanted to share an idea... I recently hosted a 30th bash for 50+ for my husband in Claremont at Darvish Restaurant. There were four apps, four entrees, and two desserts served family style. They even threw in a belly dancer...all for about $25 per person. The food was all kabobs, various dips, saffron rice, salads, and grilled tomatoes. Dessert was baklava and fresh fruit...I had a showpiece cake delivered from a local bakery (Sweet Art Cakes, La Verne/Upland) that was fabulous. The restaurant served champagne and sparkling cider that I brought in without corkage fees, and they were great enough to provide me room to put together a candy bar of all of my husband's favorite candies...I ordered Chinese take-put boxes online for that. At the end of the night, I had strawberry donuts from the Donut Man in Glendora as thank you favors for the guests. The restaurant was very accomodating with all of my requests, and even set up a kids' table/area so that the kids had their own space...and so that their parents could enjoy the evening.
