Tijuana And Ensenada Food Maps

I posted this at the end of another thread but decided to start a specific thread. I (and I am sure many others) would love to see and have a street map with all the great taco stands and restaurants "dotted" with notations off to the side. I am thinking streetgourmetla and a few of his knowledgeable friends could put this together rather easily. I would be willing to buy the damn thing. It would make it so much easier for those of us who don't go there very often to get to all these places. Just a thought...

  1. An interesting idea, but I fear it would be a full time job. I'm in Ensenada right now and you wouldn't believe the number of street stands and restaurants who have either moved, closed, restricted their days/hours, or "dumbed down" or shortened their menus/bills of fare because of the recession and the severely diminishing number of NOBs who are traveling to Ensenada and Tijuana these days. I was shocked. And I fear for the short-term survival of the really great restaurants as well as the food stands (though they are probably in slightly better shape.). Even good wine shops are going out of business!

Yes, it would be a full time job. Great thing is, that most of these places are within walking distance from each other. As dlglidden said, and the fact that the irregular hours the places keep. New ones popping up all the time, etc. Let's just keep going back to Ensenada and making those finds!!

    2. I thought that the best couple dozen places were more stable than that. It was great to see an article in the times last week saying things are getting better in tj and people are starting to go back. Everything from the newspapers has been so negative that it seems to promote "the fear".

      1. Hi tridogg,

Send me an email at ohanahui[at] and I will send you a copy of the spreadsheets I created for Tijuana and Ensenada restaurants.

        Cheers and good chowing, GJ
