Hoping to give my wife a gem for our anniversary, could use some help!
I have a 2 year anniversary coming up this Saturday, and I'm looking for a diamond in the rough somewhere in Montgomery, Chester, or Bucks County (traveling from West Chester isn't a problem, but I'd prefer to stay out of Philly). As I'm sure most people understand, the budget is a little tight these days, so I'm not looking to heavily break the bank (I'd be thrilled to find a place with $10 entrees). Instead, I'm looking for an intimate, hole-in-the-wall type diner/cafe that still has a great menu and a romantic atmosphere. Any suggestions?
It's not quite $10 entree, more like $20+, but Trax cafe in Ambler is what I always think of for special occasion dinners. It's in an old train station and is very cute and quaint. The weather should be nice and you can even eat on the porch. And it's BYOB so you can bring your own wine to save $ if you're a drinker.
There is also KC's alley across the street, which is cheaper and is a bar. They have great food.
I'm trying to think of a place that is a-hole-in-the-wall cheap, but also romantic. That's a hard one!
The 'burbs are expensive, if you really want a high quality place with ~$10 entrees and nice atmosphere you should hit up one of the pre-dinner specials in the city. I can't think of one off hand but they should be around $25 for three courses. Or Chinatown, but I don't know how romantic that is.

Why? I agree with AgentRed, you will have more options on a lower budget in the city than in the burbs. The Latest Dish springs to my mind, they have some great items around $10-$15, the atmosphere is nice, and great beers on draft. Mr. Martino's Trattoria is another great choice.
I know I can find cheap restaurants in the city, I was just wondering if anyone had a beat on something out of the city, because that's where I am (West Chester).
