4 ristorante in Rome: Recommendations

jostber May 12, 2010 04:49 AM

I am making my list of dining places for my July trip to Rome this year, and would like some recent experiences for these 4 restaurants which I could not find much information about in the forum:

Trattoria Restaurant - Via del Pozzo delle Cornacchie
Spirito Di Vino - Via Die Genovesi
Platinum - Via Dei Banchi Nuovi
Gaetano Costa - Via Sicilia

Are any of these worth the trip to check them out? Great food, good value and good atmosphere?

I have been dining at Asinocotto and Le Mani In Pasta right by Spirito Di Vino, and have looked at the menu a couple of times but not had the chance to try it. The others I picked up from the web.

Trattoria's star ex-chef, Filippo La Mantia, now has his own eponymous restaurant in the Hotel Majestic. Pricey to very pricey at dinner, but he reportedly offers a relatively low-cost lunch.

Pass on trattoria but do check out Palatium. Everything on the menu and wine list comes from Lazio, and mostly from small producers. Food is very good and seasonal.

Please note OP asked about Platinum, not Palatium.
I cant find out anything much about Platinum except this rather puffy bit.

I interpreted katieparla's post as giving a recommendation for Palatium, regardless of whether the OP had mentioned Platinum, and I agree with her recommendation.
