Can I cook artichokes in the crock pot? Have you done it? Any advice? Mine has high, low and warm. I just go the motherlode of big, cheap chokes at Vons today!
Why would you want to Scott? I mean, artichokes don't really take that much time to steam stovetop. How do you plan to serve them? Whole and then pick off the leaves? Or do you just want to cook up the lot of them to use later?
I usually steam them in the microwave, which turns out great! But I have a lot to cook and was wondering if the crock pot might work.
I have never done it, but why not try it - I would suggest water, lemon juice, olive oil, salt , pepper and some dill and the lowest setting for a few hours and you would be good to go!
Submerged, or an inch in the bottom do you think?
an inch or 2 should be fine! good luck! I just made them the same way but in a big pot on the stovetop and cooked them for about an hour - I prefer a well done artichoke!
If you are one of those who cut the top square, I would probably try upside down. Either submerged a little, or on a rack placed in the water.
The Kitchn had a post about this a couple weeks back. I shared it with my sister, but have not heard back yet on the results.
When Should You Use Your Crock Pot?
Ribs in a crock pot?
Roast lamb in the crock pot?
