Quispy,
Dunno if you are still around, but if you are leaving (or arriving) from Burbank Airport and are flying Southwest, I would highly suggest Chezz Burger in the Southwest terminal.
Great cheeseburger and fries. Good food for either a long flight back home, or something to hold you over after landing and before sitting down for a real meal.

Hi all!
Thanks for the recs. The only place that I had time to check out was Porto's and it was great! The coffee excellent. I had meetings all day and was able to zip out to Porto's at 6:30 AM, grab coffee and bfast (egg on croissant) and bought the potato balls filled with meat and heated them up for lunch. Yum YUm! The pastries were out of this world. The cheese roll is soooo darn good. I appreciate all of the other recs too because they sounded great- I plan to check them out on my next visit. Thank you again!!!

Sweetsalt is a hop skip and a jump in Toluca Lake (good lunch offerings) run by a former Top Chef contestant. Great short rib sandwich and great desserts.

Toluca Lake isn't far from the airport and has a lot of dining options, many of which have been reviewed and argued over on this board. if you are looking for Old Hollywood, the Smoke House is a classic.

Porto's opens at 6:30 am - Sundays at 7 am. Bear in mind they're a (first-class) bakery with takeout or order-at-the-counter sit-down service as opposed to a coffee shop, so your breakfast is more likely to be a danish or a croissant sandwich with egg, ham and cheese, they're not going to serve an omelet or scrambled eggs. Great coffee and espresso, and fresh OJ.
The Coral Cafe, on Burbank Blvd. two blocks east of Hollywood Way, isn't going to win any awards for haute cuisine, but they're open 24/7 (in a very safe neighborhood), and they have a HUGE breakfast menu available at all hours.
There's a Daily Grill in the Airport Marriott. It's a chain; although I've never had breakfast there the lunch and dinner fare is satisfying if a bit pricey.

re: Quispy
Thought of another place for breakfast (if it's not too far from your hotel - about 2.5 miles) straight down on Pass Ave. heading toward Toluca Lake called Bea Bea's. I don't know if it's been reviewed here on CH before, but here is a link to some information and reviews on Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/bea-beas-burbank

re: Quispy
I would not hesitate, but preferably if someone else was paying .. ;)
The menu is a knockoff of the Grill on the Alley in Beverly Hills:

Outside of The Daily Grill, in terms of proximity to the airport, you really can't go wrong with Gary Bric's Ramp for lunch or dinner. It's got a very quaint roadhouse exterior, but don't let it's outside appearance turn you off. It's really quite a decent steakhouse plus, with an unbelievably cheap and terrific burger.
But then I've been saying this for the past 5 years...
I've only been once in its current incarnation, but if things haven't changed, I'd also concur on The Swinging Door - a couple of minutes from the airport by car.
There's also a more than decent Asian (Chinese & Japanese) place on Magnolia called Burning Bonzai. Caveat is I haven't been in a couple of years.
