Nanoosh - amazing middle eastern/organic style in midtown

All I have to say is that I am so excited about this place! There is NOTHING good in midtown for regular lunches. I got into the opening of Nanoosh (I think because I showed up early) today with a friend and the place is amazing.
First of all the place is beautiful and definitely an environment I'd like to sit in versus most of the garbage in the area - first class! But not expensive. My lunch was under $10.
I had the Hummus with Chicken and my friend had the Lebane Wrap.
Honestly, I'm so excited to have this place near my office I don't even know what to comment on. Our food was really great. I happen to love that mediteranean style food but my friend didn't know as much about it and he loved the wrap.
I have to believe the place is going to get crowded but I hope not so crowded that I can't get in!!!

  1. your lunch was under $10 yesterday because it was free for the preview day.

otherwise close to $9 for just the hummus & chicken wrap.

i went too and got the same thing. a little bland and the wrap started falling apart.

Yes it was free but they gave me a receipt which was for $8.25 - and I took a third of it home! Interesting yours was bland - my chicken hummus had a lot of flavor with the sauteed onion, olive oil and I think it was paprika.
The Lebane Wrap had a spice that I grew up with - Z'atar - amazing flavor. But just my opinion!

    2. That's in our neighborhood. We'll have to check it out. It's hard to find quality, authentic Syrian/Lebanese food like my grandfather used to make in his grocery store on Atlantic Av in Brooklyn.
The closest I have come is Byblos on 39th just East of 3rd Ave.

Motosport you are now speaking my language. We used to shop for our Syrian/Lebanese at Kahsky on Kings Highway! Would love to hear your opinion of this place, but I would categories it more as Modern Israeli/Mediterranean.

Unfortunately the only Arabic I heard was when I did something wrong.
I'll check out Nanoosh as soon as I can. You should try Byblos.
There was a good Lebanese place on 3rd near 50th called Al Bustan but they have been closed for "renovations" for a couple of years. I hear good reviews of an upscale Middle Eastern place called Nayeh but I have not tried it. Fancy schmancy doesn't impress me. There are several great places in Brooklyn: Tripoli on Atlantic and Tanoreen or Sally & Georges in Bay Ridge.

Al Bustan recently opened a few blks away, on 53d, off of Second Avenue. The place looks very nice.

Will have to get to Nanoosh. Where is this new branch that just opened?

                  Ah, gotcha.

              2. re: comiendosiempre

Thank you for the update. I'll have to try it. I see that they have 3 types of Kibbe Nayeh. Yummy!!

The one I went to that just opened is on Madison between 34th and 33rd. i'm going back today...

          2. I am shocked this got a good review. Maybe you have never tried hummus before?

The food was an insult. I should have sent it back and the restaurant should be embarassed. I have been eating hummus my entire life and didn't think it was possible to make it this bad. Yet this restaurant specializes in it!

            - no flavour
            - bad texture
            - add ins (ground beef, onion and mushroom) had sloppy/no presentation and were sparse.
            - over-priced ($12), especially considering you get a small portion and it is inedible

I ordered the Nanoosh Hummus (onions, beef and mushrooms).

            NEVER GO HERE!!!!

Agreed - this place is seriously bad. Everything was pretty flavorless. Why go here when Hummus Place is just a couple blocks away?

COmpletely agree. Had it delivered and threw it all out. Just awful.
