Roppongi: question re: chicken

several posters wrote that they prefer the fried chicken at Roppongi to the Bon Chon chicken at Privus. Since Privus is closing and moving to Harvard Square, a location I only go to when forced by circumstances, I want to try Roppongi but see nothing in their on-line menu that corresponds to fried chicken. Could any one clue me in on whether they have the equivalent of bon chon chicken and what they call it? By the way, the posters who panned Bon Chon and directed me to Highland Kitchen and Summer Shack: not even close. the Bon Chon was infinitely lighter and less greasy.

  1. I went to Roppongi about 1 1/2 years ago, never to Privus. My recollection is that we enjoyed the fried chicken but it wasn't mind blowing. It didn't make me want to run back for more "Korean" style fried chicken.

I'd be happy to go back and resample but haven't.

    1. You can see the menu here:
      It's at the very end.

Roppongi and Bon Chon are very different styles though. Roppongi's style (their chain is Cheo got jib) is closer to what I grew up with in Korea (~10-15 years ago), but it is heavier than Bon Chon style because of the sticky gooey spicy garlicky sauce poured on top. I personally prefer Bon Chon style frying and Cheo got jib sauce (it's spicier).

thanks - we'll try it but i think we'll end up with samsoon's take: i loved the light, greaseless crispy thing they do with bon chon. but i know i'm not heading to harvard square for it - any one find anything else close to it, please post!
