Stamford - Any hidden gems?

I want to know about your favorite restaurants in Stamford for dinner. I am not talking about the CPK, Capital Grille, PF Chang's, et al. chain restaurants, but places like Duo and Mona Lisa and Telluride. Any hidden gems, maybe small places off the beaten path but serve a great meal? Interested in American, Italian, anything Asian, bistro, southwest, gastro pub or anything just plain CH worthy. Quality more important than budget. Thx!

Villa Italia on Main - looks like nothing special from outside. Menu is fresh, sauces are homemade and not over-done with cream, garlic, or anything else. Carpaccio with shaved parmesan is NY level. Service is friendly. Family-owned - in fact, Nona and her husband make the desserts by hand, their own recipes for tiramisu, pastry - very very good quality, and extremely good value for Fairfield County. They get it - do good food, don't rip off your clients. I've been there for business lunches, date night with my husband, and have even taken the 5-year old twins for lunch ... every experience superb.

What is the consensus on Cafe Silvanium in Shippan?

Silvanium is excellent --but doesn't get the love it deserves because of its off the mainstream location. More than a neighborhood joint -- competitive w most downtown Italians. No hard liquor is my only quibble.

Just a heads up, it's called Cafe Silvium, folks :)
And yes, in full agreement the food is very good.

Definitly try Barcelona on Summer st. They are also in Greenwhich; the best Tapas i've had since returning from Spain. They also have an extensive wine list with wine pairings. The bar scene kicks up around 10 pm, with outdoor seating. Sophisticated crowd and delightful spanish music.
