Looking for a nice place to meet old friends near Staples for a quiet dinner tonight. Italian, American, Continental are fine. Have heard good things about Church & State and Bottega Louie. Any thoughts or other ideas are appreciated.

Bottega Louie is the opposite of quiet. The quiet Italian would be Zucca.

Church & State and Bottega Louie are both on the loud side. Consider Drago Centro for upscale Italian in a more quiet, refined setting

Drago Centro is great. Good everything. Swell view. Classy. But at a price.

Drago Centro, Chaya (which is next door to Drago Centro), Water Grill, and Arnie Morton's would all fit the bill.

I liked Chaya. Neat location right in the middle of a lot of tall buildings.

I like all these recs, but they're all a lil bit pricier (close in price to bottega louie and church & state, though). If you want to go cheaper, I would go with Wood Spoon or Colori Kitchen

Isn't Cicada just open for parties and banquets now?
Setting of course would certainly fit the request though.
Zucca is closer to Staples, is moderate noise, adequate food from Patina Group.
Noe is a bit of a distance from Staples Center though.

Suprised no one mentioned Rivera, http://www.riverarestaurant.com/. Super close to Staples center, very quiet (unless you are sitting next to that creepy hobbit actor and his loud friends, as I was on a visit), and pretty good food with excellent cocktails.

WP24 is quiet, but the cuisine is Asian fusion, Wolfgang Puck-style (think Chinois on Main, but with a 24th floor view of downtown).

Ooops I seem to be 4 days late with this rec.

So flowergirl, where did you end up?
