will be driving down south and plan on visiting luray caverns followed by a drive down skyline drive to charlottesville va. will stay there overnight and plan on driving on to the lodge at hawks nest state park in west virginia where will spend the night. it should be no problem finding places on this board for charlottesville, but are there any recs for places on the road between these destinations? i really do not want to eat dinner at the lodge. also, we will be going on to kentucky afterward so any recs in wv west of hawks nest would be appreciated.

I can't recommend a specific restaurant, but downtown Lewisburg W VA might be at about the right distance for your meal before you get to Hawks Nest and has several choices. Take a look at Yelp or Tripadvisor. I'm not sure where Hawks Nest is located, but Fayetteville might have some decent restaurants, too, but not as many choices as Lewisburg. Other than those towns, good luck in W Va.

In Lewisburg Foods and Friends is pretty good for steak and pasta. I also like Tavern 1785. Check out the Harmony Ridge Gallery while you are there. Or you could go all out and eat fancy at the Greenbrier main dining room or Prime 44. They also have Drapers Cafe which is more casual. Of course until the construction is finished it isn't as pretty as normal.

Sedona Grille is nice in Fayetteville, WV. I would call ahead of time to make sure they are open, I remember it being a seasonal place. I have ate there several times and always enjoyed it. In Lewisburg I have tried Foods and Friends but can't remember what I had!
