Hapa Ramen, Anyone?

  • 5

Anyone here able to snag a bowl on Saturday at Coffee Bar? We got there what I thought would be early enough, before they opened, but it was sheer chaos. Waited a little bit, but decided to bail and headed elsewhere. Curious what people's thoughts were, if you stuck around!

  1. I did indeed go. Put my name on the list at 5:25, ate at 7:45.

This is high-quality ramen, all organic, all from scratch. Having never tasted a sous vide egg before, I was blown away by that in particular; although every part of it was excellent.

My main complaint was the portion size. It cost $13 for a relatively small bowl, I'd rather pay more for a regular-sized bowl that I can make a meal of.

Makes me wonder if they think they'll have trouble competing against some of the popular non-organic (I think?) joints like Katana-Ya that charge $13 for a huge bowl with everything imaginable in it.

It's also not something I would wait in line for for a very long time.

    1. I wasn't so fortunate as Vulber. I put my name on the list at 5:20, they still did not get to us at 8:30 p.m. I don't think they followed the list. My dinning companions were utterly offended, so we left. So sad!

how many were in your party? (i was a solo diner)

i would also recommend going to http://twitter.com/haparamen and e-mailing them, they feel really bad about so many people not getting to eat, and they say they will "make it up"

it looks like they're giving vouchers to people who didn't get any
