Grilling in Prospect Park

Hi all,

I'm trying to find out if it'd be ok to use one of those little smokey joe grills in prospect park (or any other nyc park that has grilling areas for that matter). i ask because the rules state that the grill needs to be raised at least 2 ft off the ground but the little smokeys are only about 1.5 ft. is it going to be a big deal with the parks service or is it something i can get away with?

i'm just trying to figure out how brooklyner without tons of storage space for a full size grill can get to grill in nyc parks without having to buy a full sized grill or get to the park at 9am to hold onto a grill. i just wanna grill, man!

  1. I've done it with my Smokey Joe. I usually bring my own little table to put it on. I've never been bothered.

good idea. there's a house being renovated near me that has all these old bricks piled out front. i'll grab some of those.

        2. Just make sure you bring enough for everybody
