Chipotle Coming Soon - Yonge/Eg

  • 7

Looks like there's a new Chipotle coming to the Yonge & Eglinton area. It's take over the old Country Style (or it it Country Time) space a block north of Eglinton on the East side of Yonge.

What's with the proliferation of mexican chain restaurants in the area all of a sudden? I'm glad Chipotle is coming though!

    1. Chipotle rocks. Anything that's not a new Tim Horton's is bonus in this city.

      1. Great news. Especially with the huge disappointment of Quesada.

        1. I can't be the only one who can't stand Chipotle...

Their dry, salty chicken (and I eat a LOT of salt) was lame. Even Z-Teca tastes better.

Per hound tips I stick with the pork and the pinto beans made with more pork. And I like the cilantro rice. It is still pretty salty but definitely enjoyable. I splurge for the guacamole, which isn't cheap to make at home either, plus you have to plan in advance so your avocados ripen. I agree the chicken is too salty and the beef looks terrible but with the pork - quite good for a quick fix.

Chipotle is okay, but it's not as amazing as a lot of people say. The major draws are its meat, which admittedly is much better than any other Mexican chain, and its portions, which are ridiculous. Sometimes it feels like people rave about it just because of the amount of food you get, but I'm not interested in being cloyed after I eat, I'd rather have something that tastes good. It's hard to stomach the loose, soggy tortilla sometimes as well.

            2. I have read some negative reviews about this place but I actually liked it when I tried it for the first time in Chicago, so much that we went back twice in one week. There is a similar place in Mississauga (can't remember the name), the menu, decor, etc, everything is exactly the same as Chipotle, but the name fails me. It was not so great btw.

At the Chicago location, we ordered the pork (not the chicken).
