Red House Bistro - Asian in Norwich
After an exhausting meeting in Norwich, I was glad to find the Red House Bistro open at 1pm on Saturday, after finding it closed a month earlier. With all the parking restriction signs nearby, I would think that weekday parking might be a problem, but I found a street spot a mere block away.
Billed as an "Asian Cuisine & Sushi Bar", their website, http://redhousebistro.com/ explains that as "featuring authentic Chinese, Malaysian, Thai and Japanese dishes," a difficult task to pull off, I would imagine. The decor was unremarkable, there was seating for about 40 plus a small sushi bar. I was the only customer in the place on Saturday afternoon, so my Pad Thai came quite promptly. It was as good as any I have had, with a generous amount of small shrimp. The menu said "crushed peanut on the side" but that never appeared. I had ordered their "hot and sour" soup as an appetizer, hoping to contrast the mile Pad Thai with some spiciness, but the hot evidently referred to the temperature, it deserved only a one/half pepper rating. It also contained tofu, which I admit I do not eat often, but the taste, although disappointingly mild, was satisfying.
If I had had more time and appetite, I would have liked to try some of their specials for dinner, like Crispy Red Snapper, Mango chicken and prawn, or Lamb Rendang with coconut rice, but that will have to wait for another time.
All in all, based on this admittedly limited sample, I could only award this establishment 3 out of 5 stars. Perhaps someone who has tried their sushi or other dishes could expand this.

Been there - hit and miss kind of place - during the week when the local business folks eat there seems to have more consistency as it is busy....That Red Snapper is good (during the day anyway) ...btw - parking across the street at municipal lot is free for 2 hours during weekday and open after 5 and weekends
