Restaurants open on Sunday nights in downtown Toronto??

  • 8

I'm new to the board and am trying to find a good restaurant in downtown Toronto that is open in Sunday. Many seem to be closed. We are staying over from Sunday night to Monday and we'll be at the Royal York but happy to walk and/or use transit.
We're thinking of Chiado for lunch on Monday but having trouble finding something for Sunday night. Any cuisine is fine - would like something good, and not too noisy. Probably not as expensive as Chiado. It is a special occasion.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  1. Le Select is open for Sunday dinner. So is Sidecar (with a $25 pre fixe). Starfish is a nice option if you like seafood (which I assume, given that you're heading to Chiado). And the Queen and Beaver is a comfortable gastro-pub open on Sunday.

    1. The suggestions above are all excellent. A couple of others to consider -- Beerbistro (which does get noisy during the week but is more subdued on a Sunday) and Harlem.

      Enjoy your stay in Toronto!

I would second BeerBistro and Harlem

      2. You have some good options on Ossington and Harbord Street. Harbord Room, Delux, Pizzeria Libretto are all open Sunday. Terroni on Queen West is also open Sunday. Lots of restaurants on College are open as well. Did you have any type of food in mind?

        1. Bistro 990 at Bay and Wellesley is open Sundays.

          1. Cava, Origin and the Black Hoof should all be open on Sunday night. Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for all the suggestions...we ended up going to Le Select and it was very enjoyable. Had goat cheese and beet salad followed by mussels. Lovely Sancerre too. The atmosphere was really nice and my husband enjoyed it - he had soup de jour (tomato and fennel) and mussels too. Breakfast at Le Petit Dejeuner was great. Sadly we didn't make it to Chiado...next time we'll stay longer and try some of the other recommendations. Thanks again.

            2. The restaurant in the Royal York - Epic - is a lovely restaurant with decent food. It's a pretty and open space - it might suit your occasion? Is Yonge and Dundas too far? Barberian Steak House is open on Sundays.
