Sushi for Lunch in T.O.

I'm taking my 13-year-old niece out for a sushi lunch tomorrow (Saturday) in Toronto. It's her first real experience with sushi/sashimi (has had some California rolls before but that's about it--is quite adventurous and discerning for her age, however, and she says she wants to try sashimi), so I want to take her somewhere with decent but fairly inexpensive choices (say, $40 for the two of us--no alcohol on my part). Any suggestions? I don't drive and would prefer to stay in one of the following areas: downtown, Yonge-Eg, Queen West or East. I've read some really terrible things about Sushi Island, so please don't suggest that. What about Tokyo Sushi or Echo Sushi? What else would be a good starter place for her? My hubby and I love Sushi Kaji, but I think I'll have to put that one off for awhile! Thanks for any suggestions!

Thanks for the recs, everyone. Think I'm going to go for Yuzu this time--I've never tried it so will be a fun adventure for me and my niece (honestly, next to my husband, she's the most adventurous eater I've ever met--will be great fun to share this experience!). I'll keep the other places on my list for next time. Will report back later. Happy weekend, everyone!

Yuzu is a good spot for a downtown lunch.

You must try Mikado sushi. The prices are great, and you should be able to get out of there for @ $40. The quality of the fish is great, and Chef Masuda trained under Kaji. It is on Laird, near Millwood.

On the higher end of the price range, but I've had some fantastic lunches at Shogun.

Yuzu on Adelaide, near University Avenue is my suggestion. Search this board for further comments about Yuzu. http://www.yelp.ca/biz/yuzu-sushi-and...
