Has anyone noticed that Food Network pushes certain cookware items on their shows?

Last fall they started featuring recipes with fondue pots of all things and guess what started being marketed heavily for christmas.

I am a fan but I have to suspect that Food Network is getting paid to present certain hardware.

Jeez! It's been 30 years since I had seen a fondue pot!

  1. To be fair to the Food Network, fondue has been making something of a comeback. I think it started with the desserts (the chocolate fountain which became ubiquitous at weddings a few years ago) and has persisted. There is even at least one restaurant chain that specializes in fondue (The Melting Pot).

    But, yeah, HELLO! Marketing cooking merch has become huge business. Many of the celebrity chefs have their own lines of cookware. I think Food Network even has its own line. And sponsors make sure their products get eyeball time.

    1. It's called product placement and it's as rampant as taxes and medical marijuana.
