Deluxe Town Diner, a bit further out Mount Auburn Street in Watertown, is pretty good and very child-friendly.

Sofra, the new Anna Sortun place is walking distance from the Cemetery.
I think that it would be fine for a 7 year old, especially if you were in one of the outside tables with more room to move around. Village Kitchen or Full Moon in Huron Village are both kid friendly. V.K. is a step about the typical pizzaria, but very low key and not knock your socks off. People with little kids love Full Moon, but I just thought it was fine. A little further away in Belmont, Kitchen on Common is good, although I don't know what their mid-afternoon hours are like (or if they're open on Sunday for that matter).

Shangri-La is very close, if Chinese is an option for your group. I've seen young children there as well.

don't know if it will be open sunday but La Romagnoli has good pasta and is close (Mt. Auburn). If you head into Arlington, lot's more choices: head up main street in Arlington, maybe 10 minutes away and you'll see thai, turkish, and blue ribbon barbecue. Or go the other way, into Watertown, and you'll find decent, family-friendly Italian at porcini or stellina, and good hamburgers at Wild Willys, very much a kid-friendly place.

Also Jasmine, Molana, Red Lentil (the latter apparently closed 3-5).

Thanks all; I like the suggestions for another time, too. My brother wanted to go to Tango (we live in Arlington), and we all enjoyed a great meal.
