Anyone been to Screen Door since the big change?

Just wanted to hear feedback... We haven't been since the old management and original chef were there. Trying it again tonight and would like to set my expectations accordingly!

Wow, well it's been a while since I've read ANY restaurant review THAT good! Indeed, it makes me much more hopeful and excited for our Friday night dinner... I should probably scale back my expectations, just in case, but with such a wonderful (and recent to boot) review, I'll be surprised if it's not a good meal. Thanks for the link, luniz...

Elaine gets it totally right on the money. I DARE you to find better fried chicken in al of Texas.

Fortunately I did have the best in Dallas and perhaps the state on two occasions, Leslie's Chicken Shack which was in Waco and closed in the early 90's due to the large chains moving in and Brother's Fried Chicken which was on Gaston and closed I believe in 2009 after a car slammed into the place.

I believe the owner of Brother's had gotten the recipe (or very close to it) from Leslie's in Waco as he was a former resident of Waco.

Popeyes is better than Brothers. I won't even ask if you havr had the chicken at Screen Door.

ah yes...Leslie's Chicken Shack. Brings back good memories of being a student in Waco in the mid-80s. Best chicken ever.

Oh no...that doesn't sound good! I'm not sure if it's an option to change the venue tonight (we're going with friends who have never been but have wanted to try it) so I'll be sure to post after our experience tonight. The few times we had been there before the change, we were always impressed and left happy. *Fingers crossed* that this will be a pleasant meal tonight... Thanks for the reply!
