Oysters. Where to go tonight?
Got a hankering for some oysters and a date with my wife. Where to go? Anywhere in city is fine with us. A bit cozier than Grand central oyster bar would be nice.

Aquagrill is cozy, and has always had, in my epxerience, an excellent selection of fresh oysters. I also suggest trying the scallop terrine if it is being offered.

No one mentions this place much but I like the raw bar - Docks.

A few friends and I went to Ma Peche and they had 3 different oysters featured and each was more delectable than the next. Plus other great nibbles!

so, where did you end up polled pork? i second Pearl (but then i love Pearl Oyster Bar) and for a date with wife Lure in Soho might be nice. Ed' Lobster Bar is not bad either but i recommend sitting at the bar, hate the seating area in the back

Crackpie, we are back on for a romantic date. Still suggesting Pearl or POB? I hear Fish on Bleecker rocks. Never been to Aqua grill and kinda thinking we should do the big date there for oysters, food and cocktails.

Pearl is closed for vacation right now, BTW. They'll re-open on Monday September 13th for dinner at 6PM. I love Pearl but I don't think it's very "date" like unless your wife likes crowds and potential long waits (and most parties of two get seated at a counter or bar-like area).
Lure and Aquagrill would be more appropriate for a date but I think that for oysters and cooked food, Pearl is better.
