UPSTATE TRAVEL ROUTE 81

Hello. We travel up this route quite often, heading to Canada from Hershey . Recently our favorite restaurant, Bingham's in Lenoxville, burned down, and we're looking for a replacement until they rebuild. Easy off/easy on is preferable. We are familiar with Dobb's at Great Bend, as we ate there before we discovered the wonderful Bingham's. Any suggestions for places with oustanding CHOW would be greatly appreciated.

I, too, am looking for a replacement for Bingham's. My sisters and I need a meeting place somewhere between Binghamton, NY and Scranton, PA off Route 81. What road is Dobb's on, and how is their food? I've lost my PA map and Great Bend isn't in my road atlas.

Susie, this would be the very last exit in PA heading north. Try Hallstead if you can't find Great Bend. I believe the exit sign says Great Bend, though. Dobb's Country Kitchen is right at the exit across the street from the gas station. Take a right at the off ramp stop and a left at the light (I believe there's a light there). We haven't eaten there in years, since we discovered Bingham's, but their home cooking was always good. We're hoping it still is, unless someone suggests a better place.

Thanks much. My sister says she works with someone who lives north of Scranton and is going to check with her for suggestions. I'll let you know if I hear of anything else.

Good news, Susie. My Mother just traveled yesterday and said Dobb's did a renovation, and the good was very good. So my search has ended, unless your sister has a better idea. I like the easy-off, easy-on for travel, but will go off the beaten path for a great meal.

Well, we tried Dobb's again after all these years, and it was definately not even close to Bingham's quality. I can't understand a restaurant that serves lousy slaw. We also noticed Bingham's haven't started the new construction, so I e-mailed to find out about it. Let me know if you come up with another place for our journeys. Thank you.

Green Gable's in New Milford may be worth a try. I haven't been there in a few years but I always enjoyed it. Nothing fancy but the food was good.
