freezing cheese

Can you freeze queso fresco? Thanks.

  1. NO! You can freeze it but you won't want to eat it after it thaws out.

    1. If you are going to cook with it, it really doesn't matter. Freezing changes the texture. Cooking changes the texture. I freeze cheese for cooking all the time, just thaw before using for cooking.

      1. I agree; I freeze cheese as well...with some the texture changes but the taste remains the same. If you're going to cook with it, it'll be ok to freeze. There are alot of threads on the topic. Here's one:

        1. Ummmm..not sure about queso fresco..but fyi..don't let cream cheese or cottage cheese accidentally gets REALLY grainy...:( block cheeses like cheddars can be frozen..but use them in a recipe that melts 'em...not good for slicing/eating..... :)
