The Village Inn in Wayne
Hello Chowhounders, There have been 2 suggestions for a casual dinner one was La Terra Nostra which i posted about in another thread and the the other is the Village Inn in Wayne.
Has anyone ever dined there? Any info on the place would be great.
If you're fortunate enough to visit when there are no parties, banquets or special events, you'll probably be pretty content. As Wayne restaurants go, it's pretty good.
But it's a catering venue first, the chef-owner said, and he's not kidding. Service and execution all spiral out of control when you're not the priority. I've avoided it because of that unpredictability.
I have eaten at the Village Inn twice, at the insistence of my elderly parents, once at Thanksgiving, and once at Easter. Both times there was a large appetizer buffet, with a wide assortment, but nothing particularly tasty. For Easter, there was a choice of entree. At Thanksgiving, we were allotted one slice of turkey each, and my father had to slip the waitress five bucks for another slice for my teenaged son. I have no idea if their regular menu is any better, but both my experiences there were extremely negative, and I'm going to do my damndest to persuade my parents to pick some where else!
