Need recommendations for Italian in or around Milford/Novi/Brighton, MI

IndyGirl May 6, 2010 09:40 AM

Hi everyone,

Any recommendations for Italian in these towns? Thanks in advance! We don't want anything too expensive, but "cheap" is not necessary. I'm not having much luck searching for whatever reason.

Give Maisanos a try. They're in Novi on Novi Rd, south of I-96

has anyone tried this place? It looks more like our kind of place. (I'm vegetarian, FWIW, so some other places have few options for me.) Thanks for all of the suggestiosn!!

I've tried it. Used to work across the street in the Town Center. I wasn't at all impressed. I thought it was way over priced. The food was nothing special. Both I and my wife were disappointed. It looks promising but, in my opinion, doesn't deliver. I still would vote for Alfocinno's. It's not as quaint and cozy as Maisano's but the food is hands down superior.

Has anyone tried Volare in Wixom? Although looking at their menu, they lean toward the expensive end of the scale, IMO.

i have had lunch there a few times and it is good, but you are right, a bit on the expensive side.

I've had several good meals Little Italy in Northville. I just checked ... and their
website is gone. Their phone rings once, then silence. Perhaps they have
            closed. Anyone?

Little Italy is closed. Someone bought it a while back then there was a fire. It has been about a year since the fire and still closed.

              BEst regards, tony

No thread mentioning Novi gets by with out a mention of Diamond Jim Brady's

While not 100% Italian....you may find a few dishes that satisfy.

As much as I love DJB, looking at the menu, there's really not much there for someone seeking Italian. Perhaps the Chicken Isabella, but that's about it. I'd still strongly recommend that they go here anyway, but if your heart is truly set on Italian fare, it might be best to look elsewhere.

                  You missed the Ravioli...

So I did, which is odd because it's served as a side with the filet, but it's its own entree as well. And I love them.

I really like Alfoccino. Close to Novi in Farmington Hills. Haggerty and Grand River.

Not far from that (12 Mile and Halstead) is Antonio's.

I second Alfoccino. Rheta and I both recommend the Veal Picatta!

Yes, yum! I really want to try Antonio's soon. My hubby loves osso bucco and I noticed it's on their menu. Antonio's also has veal picatta which is probably what I would order. Last year for our Anniv. we went to the famed Cafe Cortina. I had the veal picatta and it was not near as good as Alfoccino. The sauce had a very bitter flavor. I guess they got some of the pith of the lemon along with the zest. Overall a dissapointing experience considering Cortina's reputation.

Just out of curiosity, I've never been, but is Tirami Su still in Northville?
