Rabbit in Santa Barbara

Shannon May 5, 2010 08:18 PM

Does anyone know where I can get a fresh rabbit in Santa Barbara? Whole Foods doesn't have them... and no one at any of the farmer's markets has them...

If anyone has a suggestion please let me know!
Thanks in advance.

Whitefoot's on Milpas Street is a comprehensive meat market. Check with them or call the School of Culinary Arts at Santa Barbara City College because they have some Francophiles on staff there. They might know.

Thanks so much - I called Whitefoot's and they do have rabbit and are even going to cut it up for me... rabbit for dinner tomorrow!

Whitefoot's is a grand old butcher shop in the best traditions. Service and quality - always a winning combo and getting harder and harder to find. Glad they could help. They are meat guys, know their stuff and proud of it. Just a good wow, all around. Gary Laird's in Santa Paula is another one of these wonderful independent operation meat guys.

This is not good news. Whitefoot's may be closing and getting replaced by a chain (!)

I saw the Fresh and Easy news when I was googling Whitefoot's - but it appears the Fresh and Easy chain has backed out and won't be opening up on that street.

Also - I was at the farmer's market yesterday and there IS a vendor that has rabbit - Jiminez Farms has it. But Whitefoot's is great and I will definitely go back.
