Dinner ideas with kids (3, 5) for Mother's Day?

I am hoping that most people will go out for brunch or lunch on Sunday (I might be dreaming) instead of dinner and am drawing a total blank on restaurants to take 4 adults and 2 kids (3, 5 1/2) for Mother's Day dinner. We live by Alamo Square and take our kids to Delfina, Nopalito, etc. all the time, but I was hoping to do something different that's "nice enough" to qualify for a somewhat special occasion with the same high standards of quality and service, but also suitable for kids. Any thoughts??? Thanks so much!

  1. I like Town's End restaurant quite a lot for brunch. They are very child friendly and there is a huge outdoor area that is easy to access if the kids need some outdoor time.

I would make reservations pretty quick though because they are popular, especially on Mother's Day

The sample menus are a bit outdated since they are for winter and TE is very seasonal. The blueberry pancakes are really good and they are always on the menu. You get a lovely basket of house-baked mini muffins and rolls. I like their coffee a lot as well. They are good about refills.

Huh ... was readint the FAQ's on the site. Did not know they originally opened Home Plate. That explains why the menu there reminded me of TE. They sold Home Plate which also explains why Home Plate sucks now.

    1. Just checking on Open Table availability (though I'm sure there's more out there) there are tables for 6 available at Fish and Farm, Wexlers, and Uva Enoteca for parties of six, all of which may be nice enough but still be good for kids. You can search for different times and see if anything else works for you.
