Restaurants Tempe/Scottsdale
Any good reasonably priced recommendations for dinner in the Tempe or Old Town Scottsdale area? My parents are coming into town and they tend to like plain American fare. Nothing spicy or ethnic. Entrees under $20 would be great. We'd prefer non-chains, but good food is the number one priority. Thanks!

Don & Charlie's (near Old Town Scottsdale) seems like it is in the right culinary and geographic ballparks, but the prices tend to be a tad higher than your $20 limit.
Rula Bula (downtown Tempe) also has a lot of "meat & potato" options that might appeal to your parents' palates.
Unfortunately, I can't comment on the quality of the food at either place, but perhaps others can chime in with their opinions.

No recent experience with Don & Charlie's, but I go to Rula Bula a few times a year. The food is always solid -- not innovative, not transformative -- but certainly tasty, filling, & good value for the money. A lot of it has Irish influences, as the name would suggest, but very little would be outside a meat-and-potatoes comfort zone. Go before 9 PM. After 9, the place becomes more pub than restaurant and is a different experience.
