Fresh Seafood in the Outer Banks

Heading to the Outer Banks for the first time next week. I found some past posts on the board regarding restaurants that were very helpful but I'm also looking for some suggestions on where to get fresh seafood and what will be in season right now. We are staying in Corolla, but I would definitely take a bit of a drive to get the best.

Thanks,
Ted

Thanks everyone. I will look into your suggestions when we get there. Looking forward to some fresh crab and shrimp next week!

I am from the area and have used the Blue Water Seafood market in Corolla a few times. They do a good job on steamed crabs and shrimp (all that I ever get). But its takeout and probably should call ahead so that you're order is ready.

I usually stay further south, around Avon and have been very pleased with the seafood from Risky Business. I like the Hatteras location best.

Here is a link with NC seafood availability by season:

        Have a great trip!

Sugar Shack is a good place for fresh seafood, but its in Nags Head.

Can't help with places to buy, but blue crabs and softshells are both in season right now.
