Is there a place to purchase live fish in Milwaukee?

I just did my semi-annual trip to Super H, Assi, and another place whose name escapes me but sells whole herring. It hit me how much better (IMHO) live as opposed to flash frozen fish are. Comes from growing up on the East Coast I guess.

I would like to find a place in the Milwaukee area that sells live fish so I know it is fresh. I don;t need the selection of Super H, but if anyone knows of a place I would appreciate it. I already know the standard places in the area for fish (Empire, St.. Pauls, etc).

You can get trout at Rushing Waters in Palmyra.

I don't know that you are going to have too much luck finding live fish in the Milwaukee area. I would check with fish markets in Port Washington, Two Rivers, Sheboygan for fish coming out of Lake Michigan.

Pacific Produce has a tank of live fish that is on the CUSTOMER side of their fresh but deceased fish counter. I probably would not have noticed it until a little boy thrust his arm into the tank to try and grab one of the fish and a woman started screaming.

You can buy fresh fish in Milwaukee without having to buy them live. Fish suppliers (such as this one - www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20130... ) fly fish in from all over the world, and you can be cooking and eating it within 24 hours of it being caught - often as quickly as you would in big cities on the East Coast. I've had plenty of great fish in the Midwest, as good and as fresh as I had when growing up on the East Coast.
