Crab cakes in S.F.?

I've gotten lots of recommendations for my visit in a few weeks. Thanks, all! One of my favorite foods is definitely crab cakes. I've seen them on several menus. Who do you think does them up best?

The crab cake benedict for Sunday brunch at Bushi-Tei (in Japantown) is out of this world good.

If PJs is still around, they usually have great crab cakes.

We are pretty near the end of crab season in SF...don't be surprised if you are limited to canned crab or even frozen. Hard to believe, but some restaurants will lie about the freshness of the crab, especially to out-of-towners. You might try some good Asian places...you know the crab is fresh, and some are outstanding.

Not sure if they're currently on the menu, but Hayes Street Grill's crabcakes are outstanding.

I went on a Crab Cake crawl a few months ago and my favorite ended up being Pacific Café. I ate crab cakes at Bar Crudo (limp), Sam's Grill (2nd favorite), and The Franciscan (horrific - served in a puddle of soy/vinegar).
