Best Veggie Burger in Boston
I am in search of the best veggie burger in boston. I don't like my veggie burger to consist of rice and cheese in a patty. I am looking for something with beans and/or veggies...and something that tastes homemade. Good bun is always a plus.

The version at Trina's Starlite Lounge should also be in the discussion.

I like the homemade version at Atwood's Tavern. Bun and fries are both stellar. Great beer and wine to boot. Who needs beef?! :D

re: digga
This is a subject dear to my heart. I have tried many veggie burgers in Boston.
My top 5 are as follows:
1. Houstons--It is weird that this place has the best one, but it does. It is worth the $13 for it too. It has beets in it and a delicious glaze.
2. The Druid--This burger is large, creamy and delicious. I saw a recipe for it once and it has butter and fresh veggies in it. A great choice. The only downside is they charge for replacing fries with salad.
3. Rivergods- This is my former number one veggie burger. The size of the burger got smaller and the price got larger. It is like eating one McDonalds hamburger. Too bad because it is delicious.
4. The Burren--Homemade and deep fried. What is not to love?
5. Precinct--Homemade veggie burger with nice flavor and texture, good beer and outdoor seating. This makes it my new summertime hangout.
I really dislike dry veggie burgers (VB). I find Atwoods, Highland Kitchen, Publick House and Christopher's VBs to be too dry and not as flavorful. I also hated the Independents burger a few months ago.
I have heard that Lord Hobo's VB was underwhelming and weird (from vegetarians-- tasted like fried hummus).
I need to try the Audubon's VB. I have no excuse since I work right near it.

Highland Kitchen makes a fantastic black bean burger. Here are some other options: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/6229...

My favorites in the city are the veggie burger at Christopher's in Porter Square and especially the one at the Burren in Davis Square. Both made in-house. The one at the Burren is very unique, made of veggies (I spot peas and carrots in there) and tastes of curry.

For me, there is no contest. The veggie burger at the Druid in Inman Square (Cambridge) is good enough that I often order it instead of their beef burger, which I think is the best hamburger in the city. It definitely contains zucchini and fennel, and some sort of grain (barley?). It is made in-house.

I love Audubon's two-bean burger, too. They have a great hamburger as well, but I regularly get the veggie one, too.
