tasting menu around $50??

looking for a tasting menu for around $50 (3 or 4 course). any style of food. i will be staying in the escondido area, but willing to drive just about anywhere in SD area, like La Jolla, Del Mar and Gaslamp area.

ROYS has a prefixe menu, and they are located along the Harbor walkway, in front of the Marriot.

honkman has given you excellent choices..if you want to bump up the price to $75 for a 5 course at the swanky Sky Room at La Valencia hotel in La Jolla it would be well worth it.

At a $75 price point 1500 Ocean will also do a four course tasting menu, but without the wine pairings...

Wine Vault ($30 - 5 course), Cavaillon ($55 - 5 course) both very good with Cavaillon the more "higher" end version.
Blanca and Georges have both 5-course tasting menus for $60 - both very good with Blanca very creative and perhaps the best for us currently in SD.

Just note that Jason Neroni recently left Blanca so the quality may differ. Has anyone been since the change?

I heard it a few days ago and I am curious who will replace him before going back. Big loss for SD, IMO. His dishes had a very unique characteristic which set him apart from the other restaurants in SD. Kind of a mix between Hatfiedls and Bistro LQ in LA.
