Larger lobsters for a good price?
I purchased a 1.1 lb lobster at Market Basket yesterday and boiled him for dinner to celebrate the Boil Water Order.
I would've preferred something closer to 2 lbs, but that's all that MB carries.
:(
So where's a good place between Cambridge and Reading (or close by) where I kin buy larger lobsters at a decent price?
You kin buy very large lobsters at BJ's if you are a member

I didn't know that Bj's had lobsters, of course I haven't been in awhile. I always go to Burkes. Do you think the new BJ's in Quincy has them? I'm going to have to check this out!!

I've not been to the new Quincy store. We have been going to the one in Randolph. They had a lobster pound there that stocked large lobsters, some rather eerily prehistoric in size.
I havent been paying attention much when I have been there lately. So I would call first, but I think it's still there.
I have never been to Burkes. Or the one right by my house (wolfs?). Comments?

I usually go to the Weymouth BJ's now that there is one in Quincy, I'll check it out soon. Haven't been to the store over your way as I'm pretty loyal to Burkes. I've never been disappointed with any of my purchases there.

I have, too. I want to say in the Stoughton one - definitely saw some really big 'uns in a gigantic lobster tank in the middle of the floor, back in the food area.

No suggestions, just want to say this is the best response to the water ban I've heard of yet. I might have to join you in a Boil Party.

I've gotten a 2lb lobster at MB in Woburn last summer. If they have them, you have to get them early in the day though. I guess you could call around to check to see if the one in Reading has any large ones. I have always gotten friendly responses from MB.

OK thanks.
Either of those two MB stores would be good when I want to buy locally and not drive over toward the North Shore where they come from.
I think I'll try asking whoever runs the seafood dept early in the week when it's not too busy how their lobster deliveries work.
I take a day off work some weeks in the summer to work on the house so I can scheme for then...

Just to confirm: We have bought larger lobsters at the Reading MB. We simply ask for the largest.

Great, thanks.
I do recall SEEING some larger ones in the tank some time ago so clearly I just need to get the inside scoop from the guys that run the seafood dept...

There is a place in Humarock that is amazing. I don't even know if it has a name, but Humarock is only about 1.5 miles all told.

Try Court House Fish Market on Cambridge Street in East Cambridge near Lechmere T stop. Very good seafood - they always have lobsters and large ones too at good prices.
